Grants in this priority area include money for healthy snacks that are part of a Healthy Lifestyles program for families.  Addressing food security issues in the community is the priority of this grant.  Community gardening supplies could be included. Maximum of $1000.

What is eligible?

  • Supplies for community gardneing programs and small scale "urban farming" projects (seeds, soil, fertilizer, gardening tools)
  • Healthy meals and snacks that are part of healthy lifestyles programs for families

Recreation grants

Grants in this priority area include money for equipment and supplies for recreational programs for families. Family games nights, family sport leagues could be considered.

What is eligible?

  • Funds are to be used only for purchases of materials, supplies, and / or equipment, which are project specific. This could include:
  • Sports equipment
  • Craft supplies
  • Board games
  • League registration fees (though pursuing subsidies and fee waivers for participants is encouraged)
  • Honorariums may be eligible up to $750

Grants in this priority area are to assist groups to deliver the programs developed by Communities 4 Families:  Wiggle, Giggle & Munch, Uzazi Pamoja (Parenting Together), Three Stars and a Wish, and Book Bags following the guidelines set out in the facilitators’ handbooks found at on our website at http://communities4families.ca/facilitators/view/Manuals .  

Funds are to be used only for purchases of materials, supplies, and / or equipment, which are project specific. This could include:

  • Snacks and craft supplies
  • Equipment for the program
  • Money for criminal record and child abuse registry checks
  • Food handler, CPR, First Aid training for program leaders
  • Some of the wages/honoraria for facilitators and child minders

Additional funds may be required to run the programs.  Assistance in finding funding sources may be available through Communities 4 Families.
