Funding Opportunities
Communities 4 Families invites applications for grants within the four pillars of Healthy Child Manitoba. These grants are intended to provide additional support and resources to community groups or organizations within the Communities 4 Families area boundaries. See each of the four pillars for additional information for each type of grant.
These grants are offered annually, and due on May 31, 2011.

Parenting - max $2000 - money for equipment and supplies for parenting programs.

Nutrition/Healthy Lifestyles
Food Security (max $1000) - money for healthy snacks that are part of a Healthy Lifestyle program. Community gardening supplies could be included.
Recreation (max $3000) - money for equipment and supplies for recreational programs for families. Programs for families with children aged 9-13 are particularly encouraged. Family games nights, family sport leagues could be considered.
Wiggle, Giggle & Munch (max $7500) – money to assist groups to deliver the Wiggle, Giggle & Munch program following the guidelines set out in the Wiggle, Giggle & Munch Program Leaders Handbook. Wiggle, Giggle & Munch is a program designed to encourage movement and healthy eating as part of healthy child development. It is a program that is offered free to the community for parents with their children ages 1 to 5 years. It is set up as a drop in program so families can come to any or all of the sessions. Free childminding is provided for infants.

Literacy (max $500) - money to purchase books for families to keep or for supplies for family literacy programs.

Capacity Building
Capacity Building (max $2000) - money for training for parent volunteers and/or youth in order to increase the capacity of families.
Changes (max $5000) – following the C4F report entitled “Family Challenges: Understanding the challenges of families in downtown Winnipeg”, the Communities 4 Change grant will fund initiatives that:
- Strengthen the capacity of communities to take action that produces positive and sustainable changes locally;
- Promote and support communities to participate in forming policy and delivering services;
- Encourage a broad vision for community, including but not limited to collaboration across diverse sectors;
- Advocate to improve community conditions and the lives of individuals and families by working comprehensively across diverse sectors.
